Ten years after it’s initial launch, the Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify is evolving.Spotify Premium subscribers can now fine-tune their listening experience with new genre controls, influencing the types of music recommended each Monday. if a user typically enjoys 80s rock but wants to explore K-pop, thay can now adjust the filters to steer the algorithmic curation accordingly.

This update aims to provide users with greater agency over the new music suggestions they recieve from their Discover Weekly playlists.

According to Spotify, users have streamed over 100 billion tracks on Discover Weekly.A significant portion, 77%, of these listens come from emerging artists.

To access the updated Discover Weekly, Spotify Premium subscribers should go to the “made for You” hub and then select their Discover Weekly playlist. The new genre controls will be visible if the latest version of the app is installed.

More Control for Listeners

This feature is intended to give users a bit more control over what kinds of new music they most want to hear from their Discover Weekly playlists.

Spotify has recently introduced features designed to give listeners more control over their listening algorithms.The queue has been revamped to show upcoming recommendations,allowing users to pre-select what remains in the queue. Additionally, listeners can now “snooze” songs they no longer want to hear; this will prevent the song from playing for 30 days without permanently hiding it.
