They were warned by the Pélagis observatory, which works for the conservation of marine fauna. “The causes of this incident can be multiple”assures Pascal Ducasse, correspondent for Pélagis.
The young cetacean was certainly sick according to Pascal Ducasse. Sea rescuers, supported by lifeguards, attempted several times to put the sperm whale back in the water.
“It kept getting washed out of the ocean and coming back to shoreexplains Pascal Ducasse. It’s quite rare to see them, even if there are some in the Bay of Biscay.” It was after several attempts that they decided to take the animal offshore using a jet-ski. A final successful attempt: saved, the animal was able to reach the open sea.
