by Archynetys Sports Desk

Rugby in South America has grown a lot in recent years, initially with the arrival of Jaguares to Super Rugby and the inclusion of Los Pumas in the Rugby Championship and later with the evolution of The Teros and The Condors plus the emergence of Super Rugby Americas.

Each event gave visibility to what is happening in the region, which in Australia 2027 and for the second consecutive time it will have three representatives (Argentina, Uruguay and Chile) in a World Cup.

A few months ago, Agustín Pichot assured that “South America deserves a World Cup” and who also confirmed said dream in recent days is Cristian Rudloffpresident of Chile Rugby: “We began to talk and consolidate it with Agustín (Pichot) in September”.

“This is born from also seeing the support that World Rugby is providing in the United States for the organization of the 2031 World Cup. We see that we can also place all this support in the region”he sentenced Rudloff in an interview with La Tercera, pointing to 2035 or 2039.

On the other hand, the highest authority of Chilean rugby added that a significant investment is needed in pursuit of growth and the consolidation of a massive audience but that they see “quite realism in the possibility of the organization.”

In this regard, he also spoke Pablo Lemoinehistoric Uruguayan head coach of The Condors. “You need a certain economic power behind it and luckily Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay can assume that burden. We all have to help each other”began.

And he added: “When talking about a World Cup, it is important that the region understands how fundamental it is for the countries. When Agustín decided to push everyone through the Pumas, many things changed and a lot was learned. The truth is that this already marked a line and today it is important to be able to accompany him, since it is Chile’s turn, in our case, to go forward and have the support of companies, of the government. It is going to be something wonderful”.
