While the gaming world eagerly awaits the PS6, Sony is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the PS5. The celebrations are being celebrated with a new campaign called “It Happens on PS5”.
For the upcoming fifth anniversary of the PS5, which went on sale on November 12th or 19th, 2020 depending on the region, Sony is launching a new marketing initiative. The focus is on “unforgettable moments” that players experience with the current hardware.
Sony says it is “amazed by how many incredible experiences PS5 has brought to gamers worldwide.” In recent years, they have shared experiences that range from impressive to surprising. These moments form the core motif of the new advertising measures.
The campaign includes three short stories presented on film:
- The best stunt jump ever
- The unexpected catch
- Everyday problems in unusual vehicles
Sony also describes that they want to capture “the spirit of these moments” when “the least expected and most unforgettable experiences happen on PS5”. The clips are available for viewing below:

Sony will also be implementing elements of the campaign globally in November and December. These include topics such as UFO landings and fantasy creatures appearing in public places. Australia, Spain and Germany as well as Mexico, Italy and the United Kingdom are mentioned. Here players should pay attention to appropriate marketing installations.
And Sony is still relying on the community: They are looking forward to seeing more reactions and moments that fans shared online. There will also be “many more incredible experiences.” In fact, there are still a lot of games planned for the PS5.
But it may not be long until the next console. Statements by Mark Cerny recently indicated that the PS6 could appear in a few years – according to rumors even as early as the end of 2027.
Insiders also speculated that the PS6 could be cheaper than Microsoft’s next Xbox model, which is called “Premium device” is what is denoted by a significantly higher price should accompany. Neither company has shared any final specifications yet.
There are also rumors circulating about a possible one PS6-Handheldwhich is intended to complement the stationary console. Microsoft is already one step further, even if only in collaboration with an external provider: Der Rog Xbox Ally has been on the market since October.
