The Origins of *Solo Leveling*

The *Solo Leveling* story began as a web novel, *Onyl I go up in level* (*I only level up alone*), penned by Chugong. It was digitally serialized on the Kakaopage platform starting in 2016.

In 2018, Redice Studio adapted the novel into a webtoon with art by Jang Sung-rak, known as Dubu. GI SO-RYEONG initially adapted the script (2018-2019), with H-GOON taking over from 2019 until its conclusion in 2023. Dubu passed away in July 2022 due to chronic health issues.

Anime adaptation Success

A-1 Pictures adapted *Solo Leveling* into an anime based on the webtoon. Season 1, directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, with character designs by Tomoko Sudo, music by Hiroyuki Sawano, and series composition by Noboru Kimura, aired for 12 episodes from January to April 2024.
