The Municipality of Trelew, through the Area for Older Adults dependent on the Secretariat of Human and Community Development, participated in a solidarity day for older people who attend the “Remembranza”, “La Razón de Mi Vida” and “Caminito” Day Centers, in coordination with the municipal Health area, the Dentistry sector of the Zonal Hospital, and the Church of the Latter Day Saints.
The proposal arose from a call made by the Health area, which was developing regular clinical controls in municipal spaces intended for older adults, to which this solidarity action was added.
In this context, attendees received a gift consisting of a personal hygiene kit, consisting of a towel, soap, comb and other essential elements. In total, more than 120 bags were delivered.
“We were summoned by the municipal Health area when they told us that a church wanted to make this delivery to older adults. The idea was to add this solidarity action to the primary clinical controls that are already regularly carried out in the centers,” explained the person in charge of the Older Adults area, Ana Prchal.

The activity was carried out in each of the three centers, where representatives of the religious institution shared a meeting with the elderly, discussed the proximity of the Christmas holidays and the value of community support. “They showed up, shared a moment with the older adults and delivered the kits as a gesture of closeness on these dates,” Prchal added.
Furthermore, the Municipality left open the possibility of deepening this institutional link. “We agreed with the people of the church that they will present projects to be developed during the next year, with the idea of generating interaction and exchange work,” said the official.
The Municipality of Trelew especially valued these types of initiatives that strengthen the coordinated work between institutions, promote comprehensive care for the elderly and reinforce social support, especially at sensitive times of the year such as the end of year holidays.
