Terziev emphasized Sofia’s proven resilience in challenging situations, particularly highlighting the dedication of educators in schools, kindergartens, and nurseries.

“Sofia has consistently demonstrated its ability to mobilize effectively when faced with adversity. This is especially true when it comes to the well-being of our children,” stated Mayor Terziev. He further urged the Ministry of Education and Science to collaborate on a comprehensive plan to facilitate transportation for adult students to exam locations.

Minimal Impact on Schools and Kindergartens Despite Challenges

Recent data from the Sofia Municipality indicates minimal disruption in educational institutions. An analysis of the past two working days revealed that less than 1% of teachers in over 160 municipal schools where unable to reach their workplaces. student absenteeism was reported at approximately 10%, but schools attributed these absences to various external factors unrelated to the current situation.

Kindergarten attendance remained remarkably stable.On Thursday, less than 3% (77 teachers) were absent, and this figure dropped to under 1% (23 teachers) the following day. Non-teaching staff and nurses also maintained high attendance rates. Approximately 25,000 out of 35,000 children attended kindergartens and nurseries, a figure considered typical for this time of year, according to municipal sources.
