- Decreasing clouds and colder overnight
- Lighter winds for tomorrow
- Multiple snow chances next week could bring significant accumulation
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The light snow that moved through southern Wisconsin this morning is quickly moving out of the area. As we head into Wednesday evening, expect mostly cloudy skies with gusty north to northwest winds continuing through the day.
There’s a chance for light snow or flurries to develop in the southwestern parts of southern Wisconsin this afternoon and evening. Any snow that does fall won’t amount to much due to dry air in the atmosphere.
Thursday brings another round of light snow, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Southwest portions of the area have the best chance of seeing accumulating snow from this system.
The weather pattern remains active through the weekend with additional rounds of light snowfall possible at various times. None of these systems appear to be a major snow producer, but they’ll keep the threat of slippery conditions around.
Into the weekend…
Sunday brings another chance for light snow as temperatures remain in the 20s. The coldest night of the week arrives Sunday night into Monday morning when many areas could see temperatures drop below zero under clear skies and light winds.
Next week continues the active weather pattern with two more opportunities for snow, Monday night and again Tuesday night into Wednesday. These systems have the potential to bring accumulating snow to the region.

Tracking snow for next week…
Relief from the cold pattern appears likely early next week as temperatures gradually return to more normal December levels by Tuesday.
