Eighteen-year-old Adam Hagara has officially qualified for the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, a significant milestone in his burgeoning figure skating career. His qualification was clinched at the World Championships in Boston, where he placed 18th in the men’s short program, earning him a coveted spot in the final free skate. This achievement marks a pivotal moment for Slovakian figure skating, showcasing the nation’s growing presence on the international stage.
Boston Performance: A Stepping stone to Success
Hagara’s performance in the short program, set to tom Odell’s Another Love
, was marked by precision and control. He executed a clean routine, highlighted by a triple Lutz-triple toeloop combination and a well-executed triple Axel, earning him bonus points. While his score of 78.33 points fell slightly short of his personal best, it was more than enough to secure his place among the top 24 skaters advancing to the free skate – and, more importantly, to guarantee his Olympic qualification.

While Hagara celebrated his Olympic qualification, the World Championship short program was dominated by Ilia Malinin of the USA, who set a new personal best with a score of 110.41 points. Juma Kagijama of Japan followed in second place with 107.09 points, while Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan took third with 94.77 points. Defending bronze medalist Adam siao Him Fa of France finished further back.
