Looking at the attendance numbers on Steam it was already possible to expect very high sales for Slay the Spire 2but the official data exceeds even the most optimistic predictions: the game has achieved 3 million copies sold in the first week since debuting in Early Access with over 25 million games played.
The confirmation comes from a message published by the Mega Crit Games team on Steam, in which the developers explain that they did not expect a similar reception for the early access release and underline that this only represents the beginning of a journey destined to continue with the introduction of numerous new features, including Alternate acts, additional events, new cards and further changes and additions based on player feedback.
Plans for the future
“We know players are eager to see what major new content will be available, but we cannot currently provide a specific timeline or roadmap for major content, other than what has already been confirmed (alternate acts for Acts 2 and 3, additional cards, events, new content, etc.),” reads the developers’ message on Steam.
“We have greatly appreciated all your feedback, which has already helped us resolve some game-breaking bugs and other issues. Balancing the game to perfection will take a long time, so we kindly ask you to be patient as we analyze all the data and feedback from each player.”
Going into more specifics, the developers intend expand the game in several ways: an update to the badge and scoring system is planned, accompanied by a ranking filter dedicated to friends; new accessibility methods designed for those suffering from particular phobias are arriving; the artistic aspect and graphic effects will be further enriched; balance patches will continue to arrive; Steam Workshop support will be introduced; and new features designed to improve the multiplayer experience will be implemented. Furthermore, the official integration of the Twitch plugin is also planned, which will allow more direct interaction with streamers and their communities.
Slay the Spire 2: the king is back
The team didn’t say too much about timingspecifying that the goal is not to overdo it: the new contents will arrive only when the authors believe they are truly ready, without forcing the pace of development or compromising the quality of the game.
