Ski Accident: Father Dies on Trip with Son | News

A 61-year-old man from Trossingen (Tuttlingen district) died while skiing in Austria on Friday. His 15-year-old son had been looking for him for hours. The mountain rescue team finally found the father lifeless, lying under a tree in the snow.

Father and son skied off-piste

Father and son wanted to ski off-piste towards the valley in the Austrian ski resort of Silvretta Montafon. But the 61-year-old father did not come to the agreed meeting point. His 15-year-old son searched for him for around three hours. The teenager then called the lift company and the police. She was able to locate the father’s cell phone.

Mountain rescue finds skier dead

The man from Trossingen was finally found lifeless, the Vorarlberg State Police Department reported on Saturday. The father had probably fallen, according to a spokesman when asked by SWR. There was no avalanche. The mountain rescue team was deployed with around 30 people. Three drones, a rescue helicopter and nine police officers were also involved in the search.
