Viewed by The Worldhis bill “bringing simplification of the standards applicable to communities” was detailed on Friday February 27 to associations of local elected officials. Its presentation to the Council of Ministers will take place after the municipal elections, in April, before a subsequent examination in the Senate.
No“operation punch”nevertheless, as indicated by the Minister of Territorial Planning and Decentralization, Françoise Gatel, on February 18, during a hearing in the Senate. Made up of 40 articles, the bill is intended “modest and concrete”. “It’s about giving more freedom of action to take into account the realities of each territory, says the government in the explanatory statement of its text. Communities must be able to devote themselves to their territorial project without wasting time due to obsolete and useless rules. » And, sometimes, “surreal”, thundered the Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, on November 20, 2025, at the close of the congress of mayors. “I hope that the start of the next municipal term can take place with the greatest simplicity”, he then announced.
