A dentist in Silver Spring, Maryland, was accused of sexually assaulting two of his patients. Police say there could be more victims.
Dr. Ermais Semaie was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree sexual offense and second-degree assault.
A woman reported to police earlier this month that Semaie assaulted her on two separate occasions during procedures performed at his office, the police department said. There was no dental hygienist present in the room when the alleged assaults occurred, police said.
During their investigation, detectives discovered that another patient had reported Semaie to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners in 2018. The board temporarily suspended Semaie’s license and placed him on probation, authorities said. No criminal charges were filed at that time.
“Based on the 2018 complaint and the current allegations, detectives believe there may be additional victims,” Montgomery County Police stated.
