The Sigulda Opera Music Festival is gearing up for a spectacular summer season,promising a rich tapestry of operatic performances and concerts. Dainis kalns, the festival’s founder and long-time organizer, has ensured that the audience experience will be enhanced this year. A roof will cover at least 600 spectators at the Sigulda Castle Ruins Stage, mitigating the risk of weather disruptions. the Passion Behind La Traviata

Kalns shared that the impetus for reviving La Traviata stemmed from its artistic triumph last summer, fueled by the exceptional performances of soloists like Maija Kovalevsky and Ukrainian tenor Dmitro Popov. We were able to feel the atmosphere and understand that this is really cool production. we all liked to work there. A splendid director,costumes and musical side. Thanks to the whole team, we did it well. We succeeded, and it is a pleasure to repeat it again this year, Kalns stated, emphasizing the collaborative spirit and the desire to build upon past successes.

Kalns also highlighted the unique interpretation of La Traviata under the baton of Jānis Liepiņš. In my opinion, Traviata It is not a mournful and glory, but a passionate opera, and this is exactly what Janis Liepiņš reveals. Director’s Vision: A second Premiere

Director Guntis gailītis emphasized the dynamic and demanding nature of the production process. It’s not a repetition, this will be the second premiere, he asserted, highlighting the commitment to continuous advancement and innovation. He lauded Jānis Liepiņš’s efficiency, noting that Jānis Liepiņš staged Travied in five days, four attempts. This is a record time. Coming to rehearsals, everyone must be ready, no time to philosophize. It’s about the professional qualifications of soloists and choir.

The festival’s opening weekend culminates in a grand anniversary concert on July 27th, celebrating LNO soloist Janis Apeinis. Argentine tenor Jose Simerilla Romero,Julia Vasilyeva,Annie Kristiana Adamsone,Aija Andrejeva,Ilona Bagele,Brigita Cirkše-Reisson,and Rinald Kandalincev,along with violinist Dainis Medyaniks,will all participate.

Aija Andrejeva is set to deliver a special performance, tackling Eduard Grieg’s Solveig’s Song, famously performed in Sigulda 29 years prior by Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø. Dainis Kalns playfully summarizes the concert as featuring four princesses and two princes. The concert will be sparkling.
