This past weekend our Youth Hockey & Fan Development team launched the brand new Sharks Ball Hockey program with our first ever event! Providing opportunities for local youth to try sports and making hockey more accessible is a major passion of mine and something I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of in my role and most recently with this program.
On September 6th we hosted over 65 youth for our first ‘Give Ball Hockey a Try’ clinic in collaboration with local councils of Scouting America, Girl Scouts of Northern California, and Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast. Over 28% of these Scouts and their families were new buyers and had not previously interacted with the Sharks brand!
All participants received an hour of instruction on the basics of playing ball hockey and went home with a Sharks branded stick, ball, pinnie, and tickets for an upcoming Sharks game at SAP Center this fall.
A huge thank you to my teammates and leaders who helped to make this event a success. I couldn’t do it without Griffin McCarty, William Zegras, Cameron Karkoska, and Erin (Lewis) Forth. Looking forward to continuing to build our program and introducing more families to the sport of hockey all across the Bay!
