The ‘Hips don’t Lie’ singer was performing in Montreal, Canada, on Tuesday (May 20) as part of her tour and was about to begin ‘Wherever, Whenever’ when she lost her balance.

Past Tour complications

In February, the singer’s show at Estadio atanasio Girardot was postponed due to concerns about a damaged roof.

This followed the rescheduling of a date in Lima, Peru, after she was hospitalized with an abdominal condition. She shared on social media that she was “sad to not be able to take the stage”.

Concert promoter Páramo Presenta stated that the performance would be rescheduled and that thay were working with her team on “new concerts for Colombia in the second half of this year.”

This tour is her first in seven years, supporting her 2024 album ‘Women no longer cry’, which won Best Latin Pop Album at the Grammys. The tour features elaborate production, 160′ screens, and a CGI animated version of the singer during interludes.

In a review of the ‘women no longer cry’ album, it was written: “With a career that spans four decades, she continues to push the envelope for Latin pop music and make the genre a global event… Shakira shows there are no limits to the art of her catharsis through song.”

Earlier this year, Shakira dedicated her fourth Grammy win to her “immigrant brothers and sisters” saying: “You’re loved, you’re worth it, and I will always fight with you,” she stated. “To all of those women who work really hard everyday to provide for their families, you are the true she-wolfs.”
