Survey German Economy Is Not Coming Out Of…

Berlin (Reuters) – The German economy remains at acute risk of recession. The purchasing managers’ index for the private sector – industry and service providers together – surprisingly fell by 0.9 to 46.1 points in February.

The financial services provider S&P Global announced this on Thursday in its monthly company survey. The barometer thus moved further away from the growth threshold of 50 points, which has now been missed for eight months. Economists surveyed by the Reuters news agency, however, had predicted a slight increase to 47.5 points.

“The German economy remains under pressure,” said economist Tariq Kamal Chaudhry of Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB), which is sponsoring the survey. This is primarily due to industry: Here the barometer, which is widely followed on the financial markets, fell by 3.2 points to 42.3 points. “Things are looking pretty bleak for German industry now,” said Chaudhry. They suffer from high interest rates, expensive energy, geopolitical risks and a weak global economy. Production is falling sharply and new orders from home and abroad are “deteriorating drastically”.

Things aren’t looking rosy for service providers either. Here, the purchasing managers’ index increased by 0.5 points to 48.2 points, but also remained noticeably below the growth mark of 50.

Alexander Zverev starts as favorite in Los Cabos

Alexander Zverev still has a few days to adjust to the conditions in Los Cabos. As number one, Zverev is known to enjoy a bye at the start in the 28-man grid; he should actually have to go to the Bütt on Wednesday at the earliest. The opponent will then be either Yoshihito Nishioka or a qualifier. In any case, a task that a Zverev can master in normal form.

But what is the normal form? Zverev started the year very well by winning the United Cup and then had one foot in the final of the Australian Open. And gave up the win against Daniil Medvedev after a 2-0 set lead. Medvedev suffered the same fate two days later in the final against Jannik Sinner. While the Russian continues to take a break and does not defend his title in Doha, Zverev is now back in Los Cabos.

Ukrainian Soldiers Tell Of The Chaotic Withdrawal From…

Ukrainian soldiers were forced to leave their wounded comrades behind while trying to leave Avdiivka amid heavy shelling from Russia.

On February 21, the Kyiv Independent page published an interview with Oleh and Vasyil, two Ukrainian soldiers who successfully retreated from the city of Avdiivka before Russia took control.

Oleh and Vasyl are members of the Zenit defense force – an important base in the southern city of Avdiivka. At 6 a.m. on February 15, two Ukrainian soldiers and other members said goodbye to their wounded comrades, before trying to return to the inner city of Avdiivka for the withdrawal operation.

“Trying to carry the wounded on the 2.5km distance from Zenit to Avdiivka was impossible. Our safety was also not guaranteed, when the opponent was so close. We were defended here until the last moment, but the retreat was really chaotic,” Oleh recalled.

According to soldiers from Ukraine’s 110th Independent Mechanized Brigade, the order to withdraw troops from Avdiivka was given late and without a specific plan, forcing many soldiers to try to run on foot under enemy fire.

“The first two months of 2024 were really difficult for us.

Exploring The Seine: Exhibition Of Objects Found In…

There was no better place for an exhibition dedicated to objects found in the Seine from prehistory to the present day – by archaeologists or by chance – than the Archaeological Crypt of the Île de la Cité, in Paris. On the one hand, of course, because of its location in the middle of the river, and, on the other hand, because this little-known underground museum is itself an archaeological site. Unearthed in the 1960s when a car park was dug, the periods overlap and intersect, from the quays of ancient Lutetia to the sewers of the 19th century.

Plan of Paris by Truschet and Hoyau, known as the “Basel plan”, published in the middle of the 16th century. CC0 PUBLIC AND UNIVERSITY LIBRARY OF BASEL CITY/KARTENSLG

The bias of the scientific curator of the exhibition, Sylvie Robin, also chief curator of heritage at the Carnavalet Museum, is original: “Questioning what we found in the Seine and on its banks, showing objects documented by archaeological excavations and objects collected in the bed of the river but whose history we do not know: a scientific and another totally random one. » In the first case,

NOSY BE A Bajaj Accident Leaves Two Dead

A rare accident occurred yesterday on the island of Nosy Be. A tricycle or “bajaj” entered the scene. The health authorities, overwhelmed by the care of the victims, deplored two deaths. These unfortunate people lost their lives at the scene of the tragedy, according to a local colleague.

The bajaj left from the Bemanondrobe district. He was heading towards the city center. When approaching a slope, the driver realized that he no longer had any brakes. The vehicle, loaded with passengers, let itself go at full speed. He ended up off the road, in a ravine. Enormous material damage was noted following this violent exit from the road.

Our colleague who works on Perfume Island says that the Bajaj was carrying nine passengers. With the driver, there were therefore ten people on board. A child and a pregnant woman are among the injured. They were all admitted to the Nosy Be district reference hospital center. Typically, they were hit in the head, arms, chest and feet. Some had to receive a few stitches.

This Is How Griezmann Left Atltico Without A…

At San Siro, for the first time this season, Atlético closed a game without finishing on goal. Part of the annoyance that Diego Pablo Simeone showed in his appearance before the press had to do with his disappointment with the problems his players had in generating offensive play. “We didn’t have important situations in the first half, in the second we got a little more excited and had some more dangerous plays. We couldn’t have as many goal situations as in the last games,” the Argentine coach reflected resignedly.

In the attack plan designed by Simeone to try to hurt Inter, the figure of Antoine Griezmann was key. The French attacker was told to look for the backs of Çalganoglou, Mkhitharyan and Barella. El Cholo understood that in that space was one of the weak points of Simone Inzaghi’s system. The height of the event invited the best version of Griezmann to be exploited, who remained in a low profile in the last matches. The little weight he had in the game once again made evident the dependence that Atlético has on him. The team greatly accuses its shortcomings. He did not leave a threatening action throughout the game,

SaS Has Not Yet Said How It Will…

#SaS #vote #amendment #maintains #original #statute #limitations #violent #crimes

SaS has not yet said how it will vote on the amendment, which maintains the original statute of limitations for violent crimes. “It’s a question to think about. We don’t want deadlines to be shortened, but we don’t want to delay them either”, said Jana Bittó Cigániková.

Mária Kolíková criticizes the government’s amendment, saying that its aim is only to obfuscate and create further obstructions before the decision of the Constitutional Court. “it’s absolute cynicism and hypocrisy”, declared the deputy about the amendment, saying that today’s proposal is only meant to cloud everyone’s mind. “It is obvious that the government made a mistake and now the Constitutional Court should be given space”, Kolíková said.

“We condemn this move by the government and we will take this position during the entire legislative process in the parliament,” Kolíková added, adding that she sees no reason for the government coalition to push for the current change in the agenda.
