Shaboozey has responded to a moment between himself and Megan Moroney that gained traction online following the recent American Music Awards.
The interaction occurred on Monday, May 26, during the awards ceremony. The two artists were presenting the award for Favorite Country Duo Or group when a comment made by Moroney prompted a noticeable reaction from Shaboozey.
“Country music has been an important part of AMA history. The very frist year of this show, the award for Favourite Male Country Artist went to the great Charlie Pride,” Shaboozey stated.
Moroney added, “That same year, Favourite Female Artist went to Lynn Anderson, and this award went to the Carter family, who basically invented country music.”
Shaboozey then gave a rapid look, paused, and laughed before announcing the nominees. The moment quickly circulated online, becoming a notable talking point of the night.

Speculation on the Reaction
The exact reason for Shaboozey’s reaction has been debated. The Tennessean suggested it might relate to the genre’s origins tracing back to black Africans brought to the Americas as enslaved people.
