Concerns have been raised regarding the performance of several horses during a recent race, leading to veterinary inspections and reprimands for riders.

Key Incidents and Rider Statements

The performance of Horse No 1, MY FLYING ANGEL (J174), is under review after jockey Z Purton reported the horse “did not stretch out” and showed signs of discomfort.A post-race veterinary inspection revealed a wound to its left hind leg,and MY FLYING ANGEL will undergo further examination before being cleared to race again.

Horse No 2, KING OBERON (H407), ridden by H Bowman, was bumped at the start and subsequently raced wide without cover from the 800 Metres mark. The horse was selected for post-race sampling.

Apprentice Wong was severely reprimanded and advised she must ensure that she leaves sufficient racing room for runners to her inside.

A Hamelin, the jockey for Horse No 3, SPICY SO SMART (G203), reported that his mount raced “flat.” Though, a veterinary inspection found no significant issues.

Horse No 4,TAIHANG SCENERY (J314),ridden by E C W Wong,became keen and raised its head after being crossed by RUBY SAILING near the 800 Metres. The horse was steadied to avoid RUBY SAILING, but a veterinary inspection showed no abnormalities.

KA YING POWER (H169), Horse No 5, wiht C L Chau in the saddle, was bumped at the start. The horse raced keenly in the middle stages and shifted out near the 800 Metres to avoid MY FLYING ANGEL. C L Chau dropped his whip near the 250 Metres mark.

M Chadwick, riding Horse No 6, SOLAR UP (J134), reported that his mount failed to finish strongly and shied away from the inside. SOLAR UP was fractious in the starting gates and jumped awkwardly. A veterinary inspection found no significant issues.

Horse No 7, MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352), ridden by A Atzeni, was steadied near the 900 Metres to avoid TAIHANG SCENERY, which had shifted in from RUBY SAILING (Apprentice P N Wong). Apprentice Wong received a severe reprimand for not leaving sufficient racing room. MODEST GENTLEMAN was checked near the 700 Metres to avoid TAIHANG SCENERY and experienced difficulty obtaining clear running between the 450 and 300 Metres marks. The horse lay out under pressure over the final 150 Metres.

RUBY SAILING (H347), Horse No 8, ridden by P N wong, was sent for post-race sampling.

K Teetan, the jockey for Horse No 10, FALCON COURT (J056), could not explain why his mount failed to finish the race effectively. A veterinary inspection revealed no significant findings.

FLYING PHANTOM (J086), Horse no 11, ridden by B Avdulla, was shifted across behind runners in the early stages due to a wide barrier draw.

Similarly, Horse no 12, TIMESTORM (G109), with A Badel aboard, was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.
