Is it Saturday, you said? It can only mean one thing: A new round of Saturday good!
Saturday good is Code24’s regular column where we collect the weirdest, funniest or interesting things we have managed to find online every week during the week.
We found a lot of wonder this week too! Good weekend!
90-talls BBS i Docker
Kurt:
When I worked in PC World Norway in the 90s I was in charge of PC World Online – Norway’s largest BBS. If you have no idea what a BBS is for something, then it was a kind of pre-internet “electronic message board” (Bulletin Board System) that users could connect to to download programs, discuss in Forums and much more.
How about combining 90s BBSs with modern technology? Check how to drive it in Docker!
Would you run the roller coaster in North Korea?
Arnfinn:
Now it’s been a long time since the last time I was on the R/Deepintoyoutube … Nobody has said before. But today I actually found a little treat to share with you. This means that today you see how poor a roller coaster in North Korea was 15 years ago. Then you have to consider what is the worst choice in the entire snippet.
Make your own GPU at home
Kurt:
I always find it impressive to see people like makes its own hardware. Probably because I have no idea how I do it myself, despite having written About processors, GPUs, memory technology and many other hardware related as a technology journalist. It’s when I watch such videos like this, where a guy makes their own GPU At home, that I want to control more with hardware in between all the coding and writing.
Football Manager i Excel
Arnfinn:
I have “invested” several hours in the Football Manager game series than I want to admit. In recent years, it has become less of the uninitiated often referred to as an Excel simulator, but I got with me that it was a bit of a scream after last year’s edition was postponed and so canceled. But in anticipation of a new one this year, some have done something about the wait … and Koda an easier version of the game in just Excel.
AI is building a web page that can build web pages …
Kurt:
For those who do not know of lovable, it is a Swedish service that allows you to use AI to “vibe code” websites and apps. But can you use a other AI to build lovable?
– We will build a website that builds websites, with Claude Code SDK, using Claude Code.
I understand if it didn’t make sense, check instead the video:
AI-Prompting before and now
Arnfinn:
There have been some issues about how much extra resources AI has swallowed because people chose to say thank you. Exactly that problem I have a suspicion that is declining, if the development is in relation to how Google’s searches develop eventually.
Will technology mean the end of jobs?
Kurt:
The question in the title is not from 2025 and is not about that AI Maybe replace some jobs. The title is taken from a 1980 BBC program.
– If we embrace the technology and use it, it will create many new jobs. It will create a significant Shift In jobs, and new products and new industries can be built to replace the old ones, one of those interviewed in 1980 said.
I think he’s still right. Every time new technology comes, we are afraid that the technology will take our jobs. But what happens is that someone is working changesor new jobs come that replace the old ones:
Shorter, the more you stretch it
Arnfinn:
What will be shorter if you try to stretch it out? Probably quite a few things, like this thing here. But why does it happen? Well, here you get the answer, and some fun experiments that can certainly engage any minor members of the household, while trying to get the job done from the home office.
American trying to understand Norwegian humor
Kurt:
I think Harald Eia is funny but seems Americans The same? Hardly – although this sketch of a guy researching the English language is probably not the easiest to understand for an American (maybe not so many others either):
Floppy music
Arnfinn:
A little music this Saturday too! Now you have got sandstorms performed by electric toothbrushes and mushrooms that perform … Something yourself “composed” for the past two weeks. Let’s jump to what many young people allegedly refers to as the “storage symbol”. I give you Haddaway’s “What is Love” performed by eight floppy stations!
