Sedro-Woolley & Burlington Power Outage: Car Crash Cause

by Archynetys News Desk

Thousands of residents in Sedro-Woolley and Burlington are without power after a car crash on Saturday morning, Oct. 25.

In a post on Facebook, Sedro-Woolley police said a motor vehicle crash around 7 a.m. at Wicker Road and Fruitdale Road on the eastern edge of town likely led to the large power outage. Multiple transformers sustained heavy damage, leading to an extended delay in restoring power.

Police were able to extract the passengers of the vehicle and lead them away from the scene.

At least 5,400 Puget Sound Energy customers in Sedro-Woolley and Burlington are without power. Crews are investigating the damage as of 9:35 a.m.

Power is estimated to be restored around 10:30 a.m., according to PSE.

Included in the outage are traffic lights. Some intersections have battery-powered lights, but others do not. Police are reminding drivers to treat dark intersections like four-way stops.
