Monfalcone Scouts Premiere Youth-Made Film, Championing Experiential Learning
Scouts Embrace Creativity and Teamwork in Film Project
Young scouts from the Agesci Monfalcone 3 group recently showcased their collaborative spirit and ingenuity with the premiere of a film entirely conceived, written, and produced by the youth themselves. The project, undertaken by the “Scricciolo” (Little Wren) group, involved rewriting a story, crafting a script, designing sets and costumes, and memorizing lines. Each scout played a vital role, from acting and set design to filming and narration, demonstrating the power of teamwork and shared responsibility.
Experiential Learning: A Cornerstone of Scouting
The film project exemplifies the core scouting principle of learning through direct experience. By actively participating in every stage of the filmmaking process, the scouts gained invaluable skills in creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. This hands-on approach fosters a deeper understanding and recognition for the subject matter, far exceeding customary classroom learning.
The film ended with an emotional video message from the Lupetti (Little Wolves) to their parents, requesting the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them, emphasizing the importance of resilience and growth.
This sentiment echoes the broader educational philosophy that embraces failure as a crucial step towards success. According to a recent study by the National Research Council, experiential learning significantly enhances knowledge retention and promotes critical thinking skills

Community Support and Fundraising Efforts
The premiere, held at the Mons. Foschian recreation center transformed into a cinema for the occasion, drew an audience of approximately 200 people. The evening also served as a fundraising event, with the Ursa Major clan organizing a dinner to support Damiano, a rover scout, in his participation in the Rovermoot 2025 in Portugal and a summer trip to Rome for the Jubilee celebrations. this highlights the strong sense of community and mutual support within the scouting movement.
A Cinematic Experience Enhanced
Adding a touch of authenticity to the event, the squadron members prepared popcorn for all attendees, completing the cinematic experience. This small detail underscores the attention to detail and commitment to creating a memorable event for the community.
Scouting: Fostering Creativity and Commitment
The success of the film premiere underscores the dedication and creative talents of these young scouts. It serves as a powerful reminder of the value of education through play and direct experience, demonstrating how scouting nurtures well-rounded individuals prepared to contribute to their communities. The event was part of the Parish of San Giuseppe’s celebrations for their patron saint, further integrating the scouts into the local community fabric.
