School Bus Aide Arrested: Special Needs Abuse – NBC New York

An Amityville man is accused of physically and verbally abusing students with special needs while working as a school bus aide, Nassau County Police said Saturday.

Devone Medlock, 37, allegedly hurt and threatened multiple children who attend Grand Avenue School in Baldwin on Jan. 13. “The defendant’s violent behavior included pushing, slamming, restraining and sitting on students,” police said in a news release.

Authorities say he worked with the “First Student” bus company.

Medlock was arrested at his home and was expected to appear in court Saturday. He is charged with six counts of Assault 3rd Degree, six counts of Menacing 3rd Degree and six counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, police said.
