After Edin Dzeko (39), FC Schalke 04 is facing the next transfer coup with a former Bundesliga player. According to consistent media reports, the miners are in advanced talks with ex-Cologne player Dejan Ljubicic (28). The midfielder only moved from Effzeh to Croatian record champions Dinamo Zagreb on a free transfer in the summer.

The newspaper “Sportske novosti” first reported on the impending deal. Accordingly, coach Miron Muslic really wanted to have his Austrian compatriot on his team. The paper mentions 1 million euros as the transfer fee. Shortly afterwards, “Sky” and “WAZ” confirmed the information, but final negotiations still needed to be conducted and details needed to be clarified. But the clubs are almost in agreement.
Ljubicic is supposed to come to Gelsenkirchen this weekend. If the talks are brought to a successful conclusion, the nine-time ÖFB player will then complete his medical check. At the start of the week, after veteran star Dzeko, the next prominent name could be on the Royal Blues’ jersey.
