Tap water can once again be consumed normally in the hamlets of Bourdigny, Choully and Peissy in the commune of Satigny (GE). The results of analyzes carried out regularly since Wednesday demonstrate the absence of bacteriological pollution in the network serving 185 addresses.

The cantonal chemist has recommended lifting restrictions on the use of water, the Geneva Industrial Services (SIG) indicated early Friday evening. Since Wednesday, some 700 people had to boil tap water before using it for domestic purposes. Bottles of water were also distributed.

The public authority feared contamination of portable water by bacteria following a potential entry of air into the network due to a technical incident in a water tank. Samples and analyzes were carried out immediately.

Residents are advised to carefully open cold water taps to let air escape and leave the water running for two to three minutes until it becomes transparent again. A SwissAlert notification signaled the end of the alert.
