Costas Papazahos, a professor of geophysics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, who was involved in assessing long-term earthquake risks on the island, reported the destruction via social media. The station, located in the remote Vlihada area in southern Santorini, was found to have been targeted approximately three days prior to the report. According to Papazahos, the solar power system, batteries, and associated charging equipment were stolen.
