Tackling dengue is, above all, protecting lives. And it is with this commitment that we are conducting, with seriousness and presence, the actions in Santa Maria.
We have made important progress in vaccination. There are already more than a thousand children and adolescents immunized in the municipality, within the National Campaign, and we are taking a new step by starting to protect those on the front line: our health professionals and agents who work directly in the fight against the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
This is our role as management: act with planning, protect those who care for people and anticipate scenarios.
Today, Santa Maria presents a more controlled situation than we have faced in the recent past, with no deaths recorded and few confirmed cases this year. This shows that we are on the right path.
Therefore, we continue to intensify actions in neighborhoods, with home visits, elimination of breeding sites and new monitoring strategies, such as installing traps to identify and reduce mosquito reproduction. We are also organizing a joint effort to combat dengue, with support from the Brazilian Army, expanding our operations in the communities.
But it is important to reinforce: fighting dengue cannot be done alone. The City Hall is present, acting and investing, but each resident has a fundamental role. Taking care of your patio, avoiding standing water and being aware of risks is what really makes a difference.
We will continue to work firmly, responsibly and close to people. Santa Maria is mobilized, and, with everyone’s participation, we will continue protecting our city.
