Santa Fe Rugby vs Córdoba Athletic: Interior Tournament Debut

Santa Fe rugby has an important event this Saturday, March 28. Santa Fe Rugby begins its participation in the 23rd Interior A Tournamentthe most federal tournament in the country, with the hope of starring in a campaign that brings it closer to the playoffs and, why not, to the dream of playing in the National Club Championship.

The debut of the local team will take place on the first date of the regular phase, when they face Córdoba Athletic. The match will be refereed by Leandro Pekerfrom the Misiones Rugby Union, and will begin at 4:00 p.m.

In Zone 3 of this TDI A, Santa Fe Rugby will share a group with Rosario Jockey Club, University of Córdoba y Córdoba Athletic. All teams will face each other in a round-robin system, on six dates that will run from this Saturday until August 1st.

The tournament has a long history: it has been held since 1998 and, since 2000, it has two divisions—A and B. This year’s edition comes after the historic consecrations of Marist RCchampion for the first time in the TDI A, and Tucumán Rugby in B. Curiously, both Marista and Tucumán Rugby are zone rivals in this new competition: they make up Zone 1 along with Gimnasia y Esgrima de Rosario and Mendoza RC.

Once the zone phase is over, the quarter finals They will be played on Saturday September 12crossing the first from each zone with the second from the opposite zone. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 26, and the grand finale will be disputed October 3. The champion will have his place assured in the Nacional de Clubes.

With six dates ahead and strong rivals in their area, Santa Fe Rugby will have to show its best version from the first match. The debut against Córdoba Athletic is already a litmus test: the people from Córdoba are a major rival in rugby in the interior of the country.
