Braunschweig (dpa) – Hollywood actress Sandra Hülser does not distinguish between the many awards for her work. “There isn’t really a ranking for me,” said Hülser at the international film festival in Braunschweig. “I’m just happy when what I do is recognized,” she said, referring to the awards ceremony in the evening.
In Braunschweig, Hülser receives “Die Europa”, the festival’s main prize worth 25,000 euros. The jury said that the actress had rightly made a name for herself in international cinema with her “multifaceted nature”.
Nominated for an Oscar as a leading actress
The 47-year-old comes from Thuringia and is internationally known for her roles in the award-winning dramas “Anatomy of a Case” and “The Zone of Interest”. Last year, Hülser was nominated for an Oscar for best actress for “Anatomy of a Case.”
The festival in Braunschweig has been honoring actors and actresses since 2007 – including Mario Adorf, Mads Mikkelsen, Senta Berger and Brendan Gleeson – for their many years of outstanding acting achievements and their contributions to European film culture. “I’m particularly pleased that this is the framework,” said Hülser about the award.
The development shows that national borders are playing less and less of a role and that the European film community is working more and more together. You can easily learn the different languages. “Then you have to put in a bit of effort and then you can act in other films.”
