If a single rat usually makes us scream, what would happen in a place where mice of all types and sizes walk freely, drink milk from large fountains and receive food and even some pampering from visitors? That place exists: in the state of Rajasthan there is the world-famous Rat Temple. It is located in the town of Bikaner, has beautiful and ancient architecture, and is, for many devotees, a place of pilgrimage.

The reason: according to Hindu belief, the nearly 50,000 specimens of rats of all types and sizes that walk through the rooms and gardens of the temple are actually humans who have been reincarnated into these small animals. And precisely for this reason, they are offered food and care in this temple of Karni Mata, the Hindu goddess of rats.

In this tide of rodents, people pray, thank and approach without fear, and are even happy if they see white rats, because they are considered good fortune: it is Karni Mata herself greeting her believers.

The MOCHA Pedestal Will Not Be Removed Until…

The pedestal on which stood the three tallest figures from the monument to the Soviet Army (also known as MOCHA) will not be removed until a decision is made about the future of the surrounding space – the Prince’s Garden. This was stated on Friday by the regional governor of Sofia Vyara Todeva. At the same time, however, she said that the relocation procedure was underway.

Todeva also commented that the regional administration is appealing the decisions of the administrative court, which stopped the removal of the figures. They were enacted when the sculptures had already been taken down.

We are currently in another procedure – on relocation. And regardless of what the court decides about the demolition, we are going through the legal process of movingTodeva stated.

The plan is to move the monument to the Museum of Socialist Art. However, the space there is limited, and geological surveys of the terrain must also be done. According to Todeva, there are two options for the “situational” arrangement of the figures. The final decision would be taken by the Ministry of Culture.

We have no plans for the plinth yet as we await a decision on what will be in place of the monument.
