This initiative comes at a time when urban parking solutions are increasingly in demand. according to a recent study by the Costa Rican Institute of Technology (ITCR),traffic congestion in San josé costs the economy an estimated $200 million annually,with a significant portion attributed to the search for parking.

The implementation of this new system involved a strategic review of existing parking infrastructure. While 384 spaces were retained in their original locations, 166 spaces were strategically relocated to areas experiencing higher demand. Key areas benefiting from the increased parking availability include the Hospital district, Cathedral area, Nunciature, Carmen, Merced, and the vibrant Escalante neighborhood.
