Elevating Local Gastronomy: A New Initiative in Tui
The city of Tui is embarking on a flavorful journey this April, introducing “married tastings” of local products at the San Antonio market. This initiative, spearheaded by the Tui City Council’s Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Galician Food Experience agency, aims to invigorate local commerce and spotlight Tui’s unique culinary identity.
A Taste of Tui: Wine and Local delights
The inaugural tasting sessions are scheduled for Holy Thursday, April 17th, and good Friday, April 18th, at 12:00 hours in the market’s training classroom. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample two distinct white wines from Tui, alongside a rich Porto wine. These wines will be expertly paired with local delicacies, including customary corn empanada, savory preserves, and iconic Tui sweets such as Almendra Besa and San Telmo cake.
Expert Guidance: Xiana Pérez Leads the Culinary Exploration
Guiding participants through this enriching experience is Xiana Pérez, a renowned gastronomic expert with over a decade of experience. Pérez, author of The Recipes of Xiana, published by Editorial Galaxia, will share her extensive knowledge and passion for Galician cuisine.
This initiative seeks to boost local trade, enhance Tui’s gastronomic identity and convert the renewed market of San Antonio into a reference point for gastronomic tourism.
Expanding horizons: Gastronomic Tourism and Bilingual Accessibility
Beyond a simple tasting, this initiative is strategically designed to transform the revitalized San Antonio market into a hub for gastronomic tourism. Recognizing the importance of accessibility, the tastings will be conducted in both Spanish and English, catering to a diverse range of visitors. This approach aligns with the growing trend of culinary tourism, which, according to recent studies, contributes significantly to local economies, with food-related experiences accounting for approximately 25% of tourism expenditure globally.
Continued Celebrations: Future Tasting Dates
The culinary journey continues with additional tastings planned for the weekend of April 25th and 26th, held simultaneously occurring. These events will extend into the high season, offering ongoing opportunities to experience Tui’s gastronomic treasures.
Reservations and Details: secure Your Spot
The experience is priced at €35 per person.Reservations can be made up to 24 hours in advance via WhatsApp at 667 879 113 or by emailing galicianfoodexperience@gmail.com. Each tasting requires a minimum of four participants to proceed.
