Innovations in Sustainable Technology
Since launching the Galaxy for the Planet initiative in 2021, Samsung has integrated sustainable practices across its operations. Notable achievements include the Circular Battery Supply Chain, a collaboration with Seatrees to restore coral reefs, and the expansion of Generation17, a program nurturing young environmental leaders.
Recycling and Material Use
One critical focus area is incorporating recycled materials into devices. The recently launched Galaxy S25 series features at least 50% recycled cobalt in its batteries, sourced from previously used Galaxy smartphones. This move promotes a circular economy and reduces dependency on freshly mined materials.

Additionally, Samsung has transformed over 150 tons of discarded fishing nets into usable components since 2022, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.
Coral Reef Restoration
Samsung’s partnership with Seatrees and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography aims to advance coral reef restoration. By optimizing Galaxy S24 Ultra cameras for underwater photography, Samsung helps local partners capture precise coral reef images. This data is then used to create 3D models, aiding restoration efforts.
