Samsung Wallet: Digital Home Key Now Supported

Samsung has expanded the capabilities of its digital wallet by introducing digital home key support via the Aliro standard. The tech giant announced the new addition at the recent Mobile World Congress 2026 event. Using the new feature, the Galaxy owners will be able to unlock compatible smart door locks directly from their phones. With this move, Samsung Wallet now integrates both digital car and digital home key into a single, unified platform.

Samsung announces Aliro-powered digital home key support for its Wallet

Samsung has announced that the support for the digital home key on its Wallet will start rolling out later this month in select markets. Once a Matter-compatible smart lock is connected to the SmartThings appusers can store the digital home key directly inside Samsung Wallet. Depending on the hardware capabilities of the lock, users can unlock doors by tapping with NFC or by simply bringing the device nearby using Ultra Wideband technology.

As said earlier, the system is built on the Aliro framework. It’s a unified smart lock standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance. Samsung is a founding member of the alliance. It has helped shape the secure communication protocol designed specifically for residential access. By aligning with Aliro, Samsung ensures broader compatibility and consistent security for supported devices. This partnership aims to deliver a consistent and secure experience for smartomes.

The platform keeps compatibility and protection in check

In the same event, Samsung also confirmed that the feature will support smart locks from leading brands such as Aqara, Nuki, Schlage, and Ultraloq. Moreover, the integration also complements existing SmartThings automation features. This further strengthens Samsung’s position in the connected home market.

Samsung has assured its users that the credentials stored in Samsung Wallet are protected by Knox Security. It also meets the EAL6+ certification level, a standard often used in high security environments.
