Russia Began Supplying Oil To Venezuela 2024-02-22 11:44:42

by drbyos

The Ligera supertanker carrying a 1.7 million barrel shipment of Russian Urals oil has approached the shores of Venezuela, marking the first delivery to the South American country in at least five years. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to data from the ship tracking system, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.

Previously, Venezuela, the country with the largest proven oil reserves, purchased foreign oil to dilute its own and further export. Due to US sanctions, this procedure complicates identification and simplifies sale.

However, the publication notes, there is no exact information about why Venezuela needs Russian oil. Separately, the author of the material points out that the shipment arrived in South America at a time when the situation in the Red Sea disrupts the usual trade routes; accordingly, the supply of Russian oil from the Baltic and Black Seas to India and China has become more complicated.

In the past, Russia sent its oil to Cuba, but in recent years supplies have been small. In 2022, the island received six tankers, in 2023 – only two. The current tanker collected the shipment via ship-to-ship transfer off the coast of Greece.

A Mission Successfully Launched To Inspect Debris In…

Even space is not spared from pollution. This is why a Japanese company announced Monday that it had successfully launched what it considers to be the first spacecraft with the mission of inspecting waste in orbit, which is increasingly numerous and potentially dangerous.

The mission of Active Debris Removal by Astroscale-Japan (Adras-J) is to find and examine the remains of a Japanese H-IIA rocket floating in space for 15 years, explained the private Japanese company Astroscale .

The probe was launched on Sunday at 2:52 p.m. GMT (3:52 p.m. Paris time) from New Zealand. Astroscale “has successfully established contact (…) and is ready to start operations,” said project leader Eijiro Atarashi, quoted in a press release.

The exact orbital position of the upper stage of the H-IIA rocket, launched by the Japanese space agency (Jaxa) in 2009 and the size of a bus, is not known. But its estimated location will be determined using observation data from Earth.

Adras-J will approach it “from a safe distance” and then gather images to assess the movements and condition of the structure. This spacecraft was selected for the first phase of a Jaxa program aimed at removing large debris of Japanese origin in cooperation with the private sector.

The Liberals Practically Tied With The NDP

#Liberals #practically #tied #with.. #NDP

The polls follow one another and continue one after the other to bring bad news to the Liberal Party of Canada, which now finds itself with voting intentions similar to those of the NDP.

A survey by the firm Nanos carried out on behalf of the CTV network now gives 40.6% voting intention to the Conservatives led by Pierre Poilievre, up 1.9 points over four weeks.

The Liberals, for their part, continue their fall and must now be content with 23.8% of voting intentions, down 2.4%. This rate is close to the 21.9% of votes credited to Jagmeet Singh’s NDP.

As a bonus, 36% of Canadians choose Pierre Poilievre as their preferred potential prime minister, compared to 20% for Justin Trudeau and 15% for Jagmeet Singh.

“The trend for Pierre Poilievre is at the highest level among all Conservative leaders in the last decade, including Stephen Harper,” noted pollster Nik Nanos in an interview with CTV News.

Trudeau’s departure, the only salvation?

Furthermore, another poll carried out by Nanos for the “Globe and Mail” shows that the only real solution for the Liberals to improve their chances would be to dump their leader before the next election.

James Comers U-Turn On Biden Impeachment Witness: A…

House Republicans’ Credibility Undermined

Following the collapse of⁢ the credibility ‌of House ‍Republicans’ key FBI informant in the impeachment case against President Joe Biden, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) attempted to minimize the informant’s importance.

Downplaying the Significance

During ‌an appearance on Newsmax, Comer sought to downplay the role‌ of ‍Alexander Smirnov, who was recently charged by the Justice Department for lying to the FBI about Biden‍ allegedly receiving a $5‌ million bribe⁣ from a Ukrainian oligarch. The‍ DOJ revealed that Smirnov confessed to receiving stories from Russian officials⁢ regarding Biden’s son,⁣ Hunter,‍ and his involvement with a Ukrainian⁤ gas company.

Questionable⁢ Claims

Despite Smirnov being a long-standing and highly paid informant for the ‍bureau, Comer claimed that he ‍was not a crucial part of the investigation, ⁣stating that he was unaware ⁤of ‌Smirnov’s identity and only knew about the bribery‍ allegations through a 1023 form.

Unchallenged Assertions

Unlike CNN reporter Manu Raju’s rigorous questioning of Rep.⁢ Jim Jordan earlier in the day, Comer⁣ faced no pushback from Newsmax host Eric Bolling. Comer was able to⁣ assert without opposition that it is actually Democrats⁢ who are playing the “Russia card.”

Response from ‍House Democrats

House Democrats on the Judiciary Committee responded ‍to‌ Comer’s remarks with a compilation of statements from him,
