Bisnis.comJAKARTA — The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar is expected to fluctuate with a tendency to weaken in the range of IDR 16,620-IDR 16,680 in trading, Friday (24/10/2025).
Citing data BloombergThursday (23/10/2025), the rupiah closed down 44 points or 0.27% to IDR 16,629 per US dollar. The US dollar index appreciated 0.13% to 99.02.
Meanwhile, currencies in Asia closed mixed. The Korean won, for example, depreciated 0.49% along with the Japanese yen by 0.33%. Meanwhile, the Malaysian ringgit and Chinese yuan still strengthened by 0.03% and 0.04%.
Currency and commodities observer Ibrahim Assuaibi assesses that increasing geopolitical escalation and global investor concerns have triggered an increase in the US dollar. Especially when the United States (US) government intends to pressure Russia to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Rupiah Opens at Rp. 16,625 per US Dollar
According to Bloomberg data at 09.15 WIB, the rupiah touched IDR 16,625 per US dollar in today’s trading or rose 0.02%. Meanwhile, the US dollar also strengthened to the level of 99.00 or up 0.07% today.
A number of other currencies in Asia that also opened higher in today’s trading include the Malaysian ringgit which rose 0.03%, the Indian rupee rose 0.09%, and the Korean won rose 0.27%.
In contrast, the sluggish performance was experienced by the Japanese yen which weakened 0.18%, the Hong Kong dollar corrected 0.01%, the Singapore dollar fell 0.04%, the Taiwan dollar fell 0.03%, the Philippine peso fell 0.07%, the Chinese yuan fell 0.01%, and the Thai baht fell 0.09%.
