ZTL timetables
The Christmas mobility plan also includes solutions, already underway, to safeguard the liveability of the Historic Centre. The result is that the Centro Storico and Tridente ZTLs change their opening hours for the holidays. Given that the two ZTLs will not be active at Christmas, here is how the opening hours will change on other days.
The limited traffic zone in the Historic Center remains active every day until December 24th, including Sundays and holidays, from 6.30am to 8pm. From December 26th until Epiphany it is active (holidays and Sundays always included) from 6.30am to 6.00pm.
As regards the limited traffic zone of the Trident, it remains active every day, until 6 January 2025, from 6am to 8pm. The timetables of the Trastevere daytime ZTL and all night-time ZTLs remain unchanged for the entire period.
Free lines and interchange parking lots
To reach the shopping streets in the historic centre, from 6 December to 6 January there will be 3 free circular bus lines leading to the heart of the Centro ZTL, connected to 3 interchange car parks at discounted rates (‘Piastra Termini’ car park for the Free 1 line; Partigiani/FS Ostiense car park for the Free 2 line; Villa Borghese car park for the 100 line).
From 6 December to 6 January, therefore, the new “Free 1” line Piazza dei Cinquecento – via Giolitti – viale Einaudi – MA Repubblica – via Nazionale – Traforo – via del Tritone – piazza San Silvestro – Largo Chigi remains active every day, from 9am to 9pm. The other line active in the same time slot is the new line “Free 2” Partigiani – Piramide (MB) – viale Aventino – Circo Massimo – piazza Venice – via del Corso – Largo Chigi. Finally, the 100 electric line is available (via di Porta Pinciana (Villa Borghese) – piazza Cavour – via di Porta Pinciana (Villa Borghese) which extends the service to public holidays, so it will be active every day from 9:00 to 20:00.
