Is it easier to fix the offense or the defense? A dilemma as old as football, and the answer to which reveals your football ideology: is it easier to attack or defend, score goals or avoid conceding them?
For Roma the problem appears very clear: attacking seems much more difficult than defending. The Giallorossi ended 2025 as the team that scored the most points, 82, and the credit was above all the goals conceded: just 23. Roma were the best defense in Italy by distance (5 fewer goals conceded), but for the attack the situation changes a lot. With 49 goals scored, Roma scored less than Inter, Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Bologna, Como and Atalanta. The situation has gotten even worse this season, with the team managing to score just 20 goals in 18 games. Roma are only the eighth attack of the championship: very low numbers and inadequate for the ambitions of the team, which is aiming for a Champions League qualification which has been missing since 2019.
