What are Robert De Niro’s favorite films?
The actor of Taxi Driver, The Godfather – Part II e Heat – The Challenge has compiled a personal short list for the Golden Globes website. Curiously, the films that De Niro considers the best were all released between 1954 and 1955, two of which have the same (monstrous) actor and in the cast of the third there is a legendary protagonist. The director also repeats himself twice. In short, it seems that De Niro has very specific tastes, which we will list immediately below.
De Niro, these are the three films he loves most
- The Valley of Eden (Elia Kazan, 1955), con James Dean
Plot: In an attempt to receive love and acceptance from his father, Caleb reveals a secret to his brother. However, the consequences cause great suffering in his family.
- Harbor front (Elia Kazan, 1954), con Marlon Brando
Plot: A former boxer works in the port union and doesn’t want to notice the crimes that are being committed in the area.
- Rebel Without a Cause (Nicholas Ray, 1955), con James Dean
Plot: A rebellious teenager, at odds with his family and society, forms a relationship with the girl next door and an equally troubled new schoolmate, but a tragic accident threatens the boy’s stability.
From this list we could deduce that theRobert De Niro’s favorite actor is James Deanwhile the director he loves most could be Elia Kazan.
Now, the list of De Niro’s favorite films is from 2013, but it’s also the most recent one we have. However, it is compatible with the statements made in the past by the actor to Kenneth Branagh: in an interview with his colleague, Robert listed Marlon Brando, James Dean e Kim Stanley among his favorite actors of all time.
I watch films and play video games, from a certain point in life I also started writing about them. I am fascinated by the remote corners of the internet, the graphics of the first 3D video games and the images that fall under the not at all defined umbrella of the term aesthetic, with respect to which I carry out a compulsive cataloging activity that has as its point of arrival some Instagram profiles. However, the TV series with the best aesthetics (and the best overall) is The X-Files, which I never ended up not conceiving the thought “there are no more episodes of The X-Files to watch for the rest of my life”. Same thing with Evangelion (the manga).
