Ripple CTO, Bitcoin & Gold: BTC Cloning Debate

by Archynetys Economy Desk

[블록미디어 이정화 기자] Ripple Chief Technology Officer (CTO) David Schwartz joined the Bitcoin debate. Jumping into the debate sparked by the ‘Bitcoin vs. Gold’ debate at Binance Blockchain Week held in Dubai.

On the 5th, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff held an open debate on which is superior between Bitcoin and gold. CZ took out a gold bar and asked Sif to check its authenticity.

Schiff responded, “We can’t verify the authenticity without equipment.” CZ accepted that Bitcoin can be immediately verified on the blockchain. Regarding this scene, which was the highlight of the discussion, the British Gold Market Association posted on X that only a chemical combustion test can 100% determine gold.

A debate broke out between Bitcoin followers and gold followers over the post. Ripple’s Schwarz also joined this debate.

User Schwartz emphasized that replication is impossible, saying, “How is it possible to create something new and still be the same? What effect does replicating Bitcoin have on Bitcoin?” Bitcoin is unique in itself.

UToday reported that this controversy is reminiscent of the phrase ‘1BTC = 1BTC’. It was emphasized that Bitcoin is the only alternative to gold and fiat currency. Even if the price of Bitcoin falls, the value itself does not fall.

Bitcoin’s price simply reflects its relationship with fiat currency, meaning that 1 Bitcoin still has the same value as 1 Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is limited to a total of 21 million, and 19,957,806 Bitcoins have been mined to date. This fixed supply serves as a factor that further highlights the scarcity and value of Bitcoin.
