The Ricardo León Library in Galapagar is set too enrich the community this May with a diverse cultural program designed to engage individuals of all ages. From cinematic experiences to interactive workshops, the library is fostering a vibrant space for learning and leisure.
The Association of the Third Age of Galapagar is a key partner in bringing cultural activities to the community, starting with the “Thursday of Cinema” series.
“Thursday of Cinema” Launches with Heartwarming Film
Starting Thursday, May 8th, the “Thursday of Cinema” cycle, a collaborative effort with the Association of the Third Age of Galapagar, will offer weekly film screenings at 6:00 PM. The inaugural film, Grandparents
, directed by Santiago Requejo, tells the story of reinvention and the enduring value of experience. The film follows Isidro, a 59-year-old unemployed man, who starts a nursery with two retired friends.Admission is free, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children’s workshop: Exploring Spanish Folklore Through Myths and Legends
On Friday, May 9th, at 6:00 PM, families can delve into the enchanting world of Spanish folklore with the Legendary: Myths Counted and illustrated
workshop. This interactive workshop,part of an exhibition promoted by the Community of Madrid,combines storytelling,illustration,and creative activities to provide a playful and educational experience. Families can register for this free event by emailing library@galapagar.es.
Extended Hours to Support students During Exams
Recognizing the importance of providing a conducive study surroundings, the Ricardo León Library will extend its opening hours from May 12th to June 30th. This initiative aims to support students during their exam period. The revised schedule is as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Saturdays: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- Sundays: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
This extension aligns with a broader trend of libraries adapting to the needs of their communities, especially students. According to a recent study by the American Library Association, libraries that offer extended hours during exam periods see a meaningful increase in student usage.
Temporary Closure of Children’s Room for Maintenance
The Children’s Room will be temporarily closed for maintenance. However, children’s services will continue to be available in the youth room during this period. Library staff will be available at the information desk to assist users in locating specific books or resources.
