“Furthermore, the prosecutor will prepare an indictment within a maximum period of 14 working days, and then the case files will be transferred to the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) for the trial process,” he said.

This case started with the sting operation (OTT) of Riau Governor Abdul Wahid in early November 2025. The case that ensnared Abdul Wahid was related to the alleged request for fees by Abdul Wahid against his subordinates at the Riau PUPR Service UPT.

The KPK then named three suspects in connection with an extortion case within the Riau Provincial Government. The three suspects are:

1. Governor of Riau, Abdul Wahid
2. Head of the PUPR-PKPP Service, Muhammad Arief Setiawan
3. Expert Expert for the Governor of Riau, Dani M Nursalam

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that Abdul Wahid threatened his subordinates if they did not deposit money known as ‘preman quota’ worth IDR 7 billion. There will be at least three allocation fee deposits in June, August and November 2025.
