Guarne to Host Culinary Contest Judged by Michelin-Starred Chefs

The Antioquian municipality will celebrate its gastronomic identity wiht a live culinary contest featuring renowned chefs and local flavors.
GUARNE, Colombia – The town of Guarne, Antioquia, is set to host a vibrant culinary contest as the grand finale of its annual gastronomic festival.The event, scheduled for Holiday Monday, June 2, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 p. m. in the main park,will feature a live cooking competition judged by a panel of internationally acclaimed chefs.
A Culinary Showdown
This year’s festival culminates in a luxurious culinary contest where participants will be evaluated by world-renowned figures such as Jorge Rausch and Juan Manuel Barrientos. The judging panel also includes international chefs distinguished with Michelin stars, representing the best of Colombian gastronomic talent.

Attendees can savor dishes from six categories: Typical food, world cuisine, gourmet fast food, urban fast food, grill and pastries and coffee. Diners can also vote virtually for their favorite dishes and enter to win restaurant courtesies.

Academic Insights and Gastronomic Fair
The festival commenced on Thursday, May 29, with an academic day at the Municipal Theater. Four experts in the gastronomic sector – Álvaro Molina and Camilo Restrepo, David Penagos and Luis fernando ‘El Turco’ Valencia – shared their experiences and knowledge.

Friday’s events included tastings by the Mobile classroom of the IU Colegio Mayor of Antioquia, a Gastronomic Entrepreneurship Fair, live music, and the participation of the Bibliomoto of the Spirit’s laboratory.

Grand Finale: Live Culinary Contest
The festival will conclude with a live culinary contest on Holiday Monday, June 2, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 p. m. in the main park. Winners from each category will compete in teams to create a complete menu, judged by the expert panel.
