Resident Evil Requiem: Update Improves Performance

by drbyos

Capcom has released the first major update for Resident Evil Requiem, bringing important performance and stability adjustments. The update is now available and is around 1.4 GB in the PC version, updating the game to version 1,110,000. It was also reported the introduction of a new anti-cheating system that requires an online connection.

One of the points to be careful about after the update is that mods may no longer work correctly. Several players reported that the patch breaks compatibility with installed modifications, which can also cause crashes or instability. Therefore, the recommendation is to remove any mod before starting the game, especially if crashes occur.

According to the patch notes, the March 4th patch is primarily focused on improving Path Tracing performance and increasing stability on certain graphics cards. Among the most important fixes is the solution to an issue that caused a significant drop in performance on RTX 40 and RTX 50 series GPUs, with losses of up to 16% in frame rate on some systems.

Resident Evil Requiem – update details

  • Performance Optimization: Resolves a bug that caused significant frame rate drops (up to 16% on some systems) when using RTX 40 and 50 series graphics cards
  • OTA Profile Update: NVIDIA has confirmed that an over-the-air (OTA) profile update has been released for the GeForce 595.71 driver to fix power consumption issues specifically in Resident Evil Requiem
  • Stability Fixes: Fixed intermittent application crashes and system freezes occurring on certain hardware configurations
  • Improved user experience: We’ve improved the localization interface, including dynamic resizing of text boxes to prevent text from overflowing in different languages
  • Steam Deck: Although the game was initially listed as Unsupported, community reports indicate that it is now able to achieve a stable 40 FPS using FSR 3 Balanced mode, following recent optimizations to the game’s engine.
  • Driver Recommendation: If you are still experiencing issues, make sure you are using NVIDIA driver 595.71 or later and restart your computer to force the new profile update to take effect.

Resident Evil Requiem has also been updated on PS5, although the exact details of the changes are a mystery at this point. For now, all we have is basic information provided via Updatecrazy.
