Everyone – or almost – will have noticed: it was cold in Rennes on New Year’s Eve and in the morning of Thursday January 1, 2026. The temperatures at the Rennes – Saint-Jacques weather station were frankly negative throughout the night, hovering around -4°C for the first hours of 2026.
According to readings from the Météo Ciel site, the mercury even fell to -5.8°C at 8 a.m. and -6.4°C at 9 a.m., just after sunrise. A temperature more seen in Rennes since the -7.2 °C of February 28, 2018, but which remains close to the -6.1 °C of January 14, 2025, according to the history of Météo France. However, we are still far from the historic record of -14.7°C recorded at the Rennes – Saint-Jacques station on January 17, 1985.
For this Friday, January 2, temperatures should remain cool in Rennes, where a few rain showers are expected in the afternoon, indicates Météo France. For the weekend, sun and cold will be there, with -1°C to +7°C Saturday and -3°C to +5°C Sunday.
