Reichraming judokas Shine on the International Stage
The ASKÖ Reichraming judo club recently demonstrated its strength and depth at the Zeltweg tournament in Styria, Austria. The competition, a notable event on the European judo calendar, drew a massive field of 1,257 athletes representing 16 nations. Reichraming’s contingent secured an impressive five podium finishes, highlighting the club’s commitment to developing top-tier judokas.
European Championship Qualification Secured
Two rising stars from Reichraming, Stefan Stögmann and Bleona Rama, have earned their spots at the U18 European Championship, scheduled to take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, at the end of June. Their gold medal-winning performances in Zeltweg served as a powerful statement of their readiness for the upcoming continental competition. Stögmann and rama’s victories underscore the effectiveness of Reichraming’s youth development program.

Youth and Veteran Judokas contribute to Success
Beyond the U18 triumphs, Reichraming’s younger and more experienced athletes also contributed to the club’s overall success. In the U14 category, thomas Stadler and Clemens Pondorfer both secured silver medals, showcasing the club’s strength in developing talent from a young age. Jan Pfandl added to the medal haul with a bronze in the U21 division, demonstrating the club’s ability to nurture athletes throughout their judo careers.
Team Performance and Future Prospects
While maximilian Hron and Stefan Stadler narrowly missed out on podium finishes,securing fifth place in their respective categories,their contributions helped ASKÖ Reichraming achieve a commendable 18th place in the team ranking out of 153 participating clubs. This result underscores the club’s consistent performance and its ability to compete effectively against larger and more established judo organizations. With a strong foundation of talented athletes and a dedicated coaching staff, ASKÖ Reichraming is poised for continued success in future competitions. Judo continues to grow in popularity, with participation rates increasing by an estimated 7% globally in the last year, according to the International Judo Federation.
