Artist Reham Abdel Ghafour
Actress Reham Abdel Ghafour expressed her anger and extreme dissatisfaction after she was subjected to a privacy violation during the private screening of her film, through a post on her official Facebook account.
Reham Abdel Ghafour wrote: “It was a black day when there were still phones with cameras, which gave the opportunity to some vile creatures that feed on cheap targets,” referring to her being filmed without permission and publishing the content in an offensive manner and out of context.
This comes at a time when the Acting Professions Syndicate, headed by the artist Dr. Ashraf Zaki, issued a decisive statement in which it stressed that it will not tolerate any irresponsible pages that insult Egyptian artists or distort Egypt’s reputation, by taking photos or video clips without permission and publishing them in an offensive manner.
The union stressed that what happened recently, most notably the incident that affected Reham Abdel Ghafour, is a blatant and unacceptable transgression and a direct insult to the image of Egyptian art, confirming that the necessary legal measures have been taken against those involved, and the prosecution of anyone proven to be involved in publishing or promoting offensive content.
The head of the Acting Professions Syndicate, Dr. Ashraf Zaki, confirmed that the union will not tolerate these violations, and will confront them with the law without courtesy, stressing that freedom of the media does not mean chaos or a violation of privacy, while the union continues to protect its members and defend their dignity.
