(Rolling Pool) Adjunct Instructor – Rehabilitation Counseling

Department Summary: Welcome to the VCU Department of Rehabilitation Counseling. One of the first programs in the U.S. when established in 1955, VCU now ranks 4th among masters level rehabilitation and mental health counseling training programs in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report. As one of the largest CACREP-accredited rehabilitation and mental health counseling graduate programs in the country, we currently serve around 100 on-campus and distance-learning students, with faculty based in our own department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Undergraduate courses will be taught as part of the Community Mental Health Services minor in the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling. Graduate courses will be taught as part of the Master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling degree program. Adjunct Professors will have strong teaching skills, knowledge of hybrid and virtual classroom instruction/student development, and thorough knowledge of the topic area to include community-based experience, with excellent communication skills.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters in Rehabilitation and/or Mental Health Counseling.
- Ability to develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate level coursework.
- Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in the topical areas to be delivered.
- At least five years of experience working in the community in Rehabilitation / Mental Health Counseling and/or a related
setting. - Experience working with graduate students in an instructional capacity.
- Content expertise in the topical area of the course they teach.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Counseling or related field.
- Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and/or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Salary Range: $1,437/credit hour + (Commensurate with experience)
