Health Insurance Director Fired | Dismissal News

The director of the General Health Insurance (VZP), Zdeněk Kabátek, is leaving his position. The board of directors dismissed him on Monday. Kabátek had held the position since 2012. He will be replaced by his previous deputy for customer service, Ivan Duškov.

Kabátek had lost his trust, among other things because of repeated police operations at the insurance company, said Health Minister Adam Vojtěch (independent) at a press conference on Monday. The department head emphasized that representatives of the opposition on the VZP board of directors also voted for Kabátek’s dismissal.

The public health insurance system manages more than 560 billion crowns (23.1 billion euros). It consists of six health insurance companies, of which VZP is the largest with 60 percent of the insured.
