Regret Button: Online Shopping Rights & Advice

The Municipal Consumer Office of Rosario (WTO) reported this Thursday, given the imminent arrival of the Cyber Monday 2025, that there is a new provision on the “Repent Button” for the online shopping.

Provision 954/2025, issued by the Undersecretariat of Consumer Defense and published on September 4, 2025 in the Official Gazette, updated the regulations on the right of repentance and cancellation of services contracted remotely.

From now on, all websites and applications that sell goods or services online must clearly incorporate and accessible two key buttons for consumers:

Repent Buttonwhich allows you to cancel a purchase made online within 10 calendar days from the delivery of the product or the signing of the contract.

Service Cancellation Buttonwhich enables the termination of digital contracts directly and without administrative obstacles. This termination is also inherent to the regret button.

Additionally, suppliers are required to confirm the request for repentance within a maximum period of 24 hoursinforming the user of a registration number or code.

The regulations also include special cases for shows and tourist serviceswhere the order must be placed at least 24 hours before the event or the start of the service, and provides exceptions for personalized, perishable products or digital content already downloaded.

“During events like Cyber ​​Monday, the volume of online purchases and also complaints. It is key that consumers know how the Regret Button and the Cancellation Button work: it is a right that guarantees a safe purchase and the possibility of reversing a decision without obstacles,” explained Solange Bobbett, head of the Municipal Consumer Office.

The WTO also recommended:

-Check that the sites are official and insurance.
-Read carefully the conditions before confirming a purchase.
Keep receiptscaptures and claim numbers.
